Cameron Highlands is the highest point in Malaysia that you can access by a vehicle. Many of these places are at least one kilometer above sea level. When traveling out here, you can visit one of the many towns that are lined up around it including Brinchang, Tanah Rata and Bertam Valley.
How to get there?
Cameron Highlands was first mapped out in the later part of the nineteenth century. The lands have been mostly untouched and include several different towns and large land spaces.
It takes about 5 hours to drive from Singapore to the Cameron Highlands with Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan being the most efficient road to use when heading out to the area.
You can particularly go through the city of Kuala Lumpur when traveling up to the Highlands. It also takes close to 6 hours to get to Johor Bahru from the Highlands.
What is so interesting in Cameron Highlands?
You can see many strawberry farms while out here. The area is popular for being a space where strawberries are grown in favorable high altitude conditions. The Boh Tea Plantations are also popular around the highlands.
Mount Brinchang is close to seven thousand feet above sea level and is home to a tall observation tower. You can get to the Mossy Forest from around this area while traveling by car. It is called the Mossy Forest because it has a large amount of moss covering the spaces around it. In fact, a number of trees around the area have grown moss because they have been peacefully left to themselves for generations. The Parit Waterfall is not too far from here as well.
The town of Brinchang is also noteworthy for having a higher altitude than other places in the area. The location of this spot is around the western end.
The Butterfly Gardens and the Butterfly Farm are both located in the Cameron Highlands as well. You can find many different butterfly breeds here and even interact with them directly. You can even take photos while in the garden without being at risk of getting in trouble. These places are open during the daytime hours.
A few hotels in Cameron Highlands can also be found around the place. Reservations are available at Bala’s Chalet and BB Inn, as well as the Camellia Budget Inn. These are ideal for people traveling from all over the world.
